WandaVision Premiere
I have a love/hate relationship with Disney+. I love the content and I hate how long I have to wait between seasons of The Mandalorian (& Baby Grogu). One positive remedy was the release of the long awaited original Marvel series, WandaVision. The show takes place after Avengers: Endgame but before the upcoming film sequel, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The first two episodes were released last Friday and I will just say, “wait, what?” Each episode is presented as a live studio audience TV show inside of a show and appears to take place in a different decade, starting in the 1950s in black and white. There are even Stark Industries commercials advertising Hydra items.
Based on the first two episodes, there seems to be moments of Wanda being in control with someone trying to (telepathically) reach her, while other times it seems as though she is being controlled and/or persued by an external entity. Her neighbors and friends have moments where they attempt to cry out for help against the peachy keen landscape as if they are being held against their will. Within moments, however, they return to their regularly scheduled programming behavior.
The trailer presented some moments to expect in the 9 episode season, but I am sure there will be unexpected twists and revelations over the next 7 episodes. I can’t wait!
