America: Insurrection 2021
If you watch the news, check a social media feed, listen to the radio, or talk to another human being, then you are most likely aware of the attempted coup that took place in the national Capitol building on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 by Trump-supporting domestic terrorists. Five people died as a result, including one Capitol officer who attempted to stop the break-in. The insurrectionists scaled the walls like anti-American spidermen in an effort to prevent the House and Senate from certifying the election win of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris at the behest of their commander and thief. Watch the clip below for a brief history lesson provided by House Majority Whip Rep. James Clyburn on the anti-American flag the insurrectionists carried into the Capitol.
Many of the insurrectionists who broke into the Capitol are now learning they are on ‘No-Fly’ lists, pending the full investigation, and are having full child-like breakdowns in airports as if they weren’t just charging into the Capitol like Billy badasses six days ago. Terrorist apologists “never forget” 9/11, but as soon as the terrorists are white Jim-Bobs and Karens, it’s suggested that the penaly is too strict and that they should sue the airline and still be allowed to fly.
The irony that the insurrectionists’ identities are being revealed and shared across social media and to the FBI at the speed of light during a time when wearing a mask is a government regulation in the midst of a global pandemic is glaring. You really can’t make up this kind of stupidity, entitlement, and cult-like groupthink.
In the spirit of white supremacy and delusion, many news outlets are disgustingly, but unsurprisingly, minimizing the acts of treason because they see themselves in their white counterparts, while they see Black and brown people as “other”. There was also praise given to the police officers for, ‘not killing “protesters” as would typically happen in foreign countries.’
Try this country. This summer when actual protestors were Black, brutalized, and arrested by the hundreds.
Oh, there was also a noose hanging outside the Capitol if the incident didn’t feel racist and anti-Black enough. In light of all this, American citizens are expected to go on, business as usual, as if the world isn’t on fire, literally and figuratively.
This is not normal.
We cannot allow this to become “normal” as if millions of Americans weren’t already broken by a racist, patriarchal, capitalist centered system. I went live on Instagram the night of to express my emotions in real-time. Check that video out below and let me know how you were, and still are, feeling.
