Inauguration 2021 Fashion
Inauguration 2021 gave us a new president, the first female, Black and Asian American Vice President, and
ALL. OF. THE. LOOKS!
And those looks came from the ladies and mainly in the form of bold, monochromatic coats. Let’s start with the MVP.
Vice President Kamala Harris beamed in a radiant purple coat by designer Christopher John Rogers, which was both regal and unifying in its mix of red and blue to make purple.
First Lady Dr. Jill Biden shined in an ocean blue overcoat with velvet and sparkle accents. She also started the day in matching blue heels and then changed into a pair of nude heels for the parade to the White House. (I noticed, Dr. B 🙂
Former First Lady Michelle Obama ate it all up in a plum pant suit with matching overcoat by Black designer Sergio Hudson. Her waist was cinched in high waisted pants that made the elegant beauty look even more towering. And her curls were bouncing in the cold wind like they had been wrapped up in a cloud the night before. Queen!

It’s no wonder that the brightest shining star of the Inauguration shined in a Prada yellow overcoat. Amanda Gorman made history as the youngest inaugural poet to perform at an Inauguration and her inspirational and powerful words hit hard.
Jennifer Lopez wore a head-to-toe white pant suit and coat in honor of the Women’s Suffrage Movement. With the first female Vice President in US history being sworn into office, aided by the support of Black women leaders in the community like Stacey Abrams and LaTosha Brown, this was quite a statement look.
Lady Gaga brought some serious Hunger Games: Mockingjay vibes in her two-piece red and black gown, complete with a golden bird design across her heart. I was definitely waiting for her to spin the dress into flames, or for doves to emerge from beneath her ball gown skirt. But one thing is certain: those haters who created a page dedicated to saying that Stefani would never amount to anything are surely eating their hearts out now.
